Candle Care

Yorke candles are handcrafted in small batches and tested individually for burn behaviour, scent throw, and performance over their full lifespan.
Because fragrance oils behave differently, each scent may show subtle variations. These are natural and expected.

First Burn Matters

Allow your candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt fully across the surface on the first use. This helps prevent tunnelling and ensures a more even burn over time.

Wick Care

Trim the wick to approximately 3 to 5 mm before each burn.

Keeping the wick short helps maintain a clean flame and prevents excessive heat or soot.

Burn Time

For best performance, burn candles for 2–4 hours per session.

Avoid burning longer than 4 hours at a time.

Cooling Between Burns

Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting. This helps the wick reset and keeps the wax surface stable.

Safety

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Keep away from drafts, children, pets, and flammable materials.

Always place candles on a heat-safe surface.

Testing & Environment

All Yorke candles are tested in a controlled environment (17–18°C) and burned to end of life to evaluate flame behaviour, melt pool performance, heat output, and scent throw. In warmer homes, candles may burn slightly hotter and faster. This is normal and can influence flame size and melt pool speed.

Per-Scent Burn Behaviour

Because each fragrance behaves differently, burn characteristics may vary slightly between scents.

Dark Whiskey

Burns steady with a strong flame. Avoid burning longer than 4 hours per session, as this scent can run hotter over extended burns.

Warm Bourbon

Burns with a larger, lively flame and a warm, boozy scent. Strong performance even on a smaller wick. Best enjoyed in 2–4 hour sessions.

Dark Roast Coffee

Burns evenly and reliably with a bold coffee scent. One of the most consistent and well-behaved performers in the Yorke line.

Pure Chocolate

A bold, indulgent scent. Due to the density of the fragrance, the flame may calm and the melt pool may shrink during longer burns. This resets after a full cool-down.
