!!! CONTENT CONSIDERATION !!!
This book deals explicitly with medical trauma, bodily violation, and psychological aftermath. While it does not sensationalise, it also does not soften the reality. There are no content warnings in the book itself.
This work doesn’t come with warnings. What happened didn’t either.
SWALLOW speaks plainly about medical assault and its aftermath. Not for shock. Not for pity. Just because it happened. If that’s something you carry too, you may find parts of yourself here. If it’s not, you may see what’s often left unspoken. Either way, read gently. Or don’t.
You get to choose.
SWALLOW is a survivor’s reckoning. A collection of poems written in the long aftermath of a medical assault, an experience that took over a decade to name, let alone to speak about. Each piece carries the weight of silence, confrontation, and the slow, aching work of reclaiming one’s voice.
